About TheBeardie
TheBeardie is a comprehensive resource for bearded dragon care — written for owners who want practical, evidence-based information without the misinformation that fills most reptile care content online.
TheBeardie is run by its founder, who publishes under the site’s name rather than a personal one. We aren’t a vet clinic, a breeder or a pet store, and nobody here claims qualifications or first-hand experience they don’t have.
Guides are researched and drafted with the help of AI tools, starting from veterinary sources: university vet schools, VCA, the Merck Veterinary Manual, ARAV and published research. Before a guide is published or updated, its health claims are checked against the sources it cites, and every guide cites those sources so you can check them too.
Earlier articles appeared under the pen name “Tyler Nash,” along with a first-person backstory. In October 2026 we retired both so that everything about who writes this site is accurate.

Our Mission
We exist to make bearded dragon care accessible to everyone. The reptile keeping community has decades of accumulated knowledge — from veterinarians, breeders, and dedicated keepers — but it’s scattered across forums, outdated websites, and conflicting advice. We pull that information together, cross-reference it with veterinary sources, and present it in a format you can actually use.
Every article on this site is built on three principles:
Accuracy first.
We cite veterinary universities, peer-reviewed research, and established reptile organizations. When advice is debated, we say so. When advice has changed, we update.
Practical, not theoretical.
We focus on what you actually need to do — exact temperatures, specific products, real numbers. Not vague “make sure your beardie is comfortable” filler.
Welfare over convenience.
We won’t recommend shortcuts that compromise your beardie’s health. Cohabitation, calci-sand, coil UVB bulbs, and other discredited practices don’t get a free pass here just because they’re cheaper or easier.
Who Writes Our Content
Guides are researched and drafted with AI assistance, overseen by TheBeardie’s founder, and checked against the veterinary and academic sources cited in each article. We don’t have a veterinarian on staff; if a vet reviews a guide, the guide will name them. See how we make our guides for the full process. We rely on published guidance from:
Health-related content includes appropriate disclaimers and is not a substitute for veterinary care.
What We Don’t Do
- Sell bearded dragons
- Operate a breeding facility
- Run a vet clinic (though we’ll always tell you when to see one)
- Accept paid placements that compromise editorial integrity
- Recommend products we wouldn’t stand behind on husbandry grounds
Some links on this site are affiliate links. We only link to products we’d recommend regardless — and we say so clearly in our affiliate disclosure.

Our Commitment
Bearded dragons live 10–15 years with proper care. The information on this site is meant to support you for the entire journey — from “I’m thinking about getting one” through senior care and end-of-life decisions. We update articles when veterinary recommendations change, when we get better data, or when readers point out issues.
If you find this site helpful, the best thing you can do is share it with another beardie owner who needs reliable information.
