Reptile gear is sold on claims that are hard to check from the box: “full spectrum,” “desert UVB,” “starter kit.” No mass-market starter kit is fully adequate out of the box: most ship with a tank too small for an adult and a coil UVB bulb that cannot deliver the output a dragon needs. The reviews here rank products against the standards reptile vets and the current husbandry research actually use — enclosure size, UVB output at distance, heat control, and build quality — using manufacturer specifications, published UVB output data, and owner reports.

Enclosures and kits

The enclosure is the one purchase that sets the ceiling on everything else. Buy adult-sized once rather than upgrading twice.
